From a quick google search, Lavasoft is a virus protection software and it might be on your system unknowingly.
Go into your computer and search for it, recommended would be to use Control Panel and then Programs and Features. Let the list populate and look for it. If it's there, uninstall it. Reboot and try PS again.

And remember, when you decide to upgrade to 2015.5, use the Advanced options and uncheck the installer's default behavior of removing old versions (unless yo want them removed).
You will also have to reinstall all of your plug-ins.

Here is some very helpful information from HTM Panel/Extension developer Davide Barranca about the newest version of Photoshop CC 2015.5:

Of particular note is the common plug-in folder that was mentioned in the previous Adobe blog post I linked above - the common plug-in folder is:

I was fortunate enough to be able to simply drag my plug-ins from my old CC2015 install into this system level folder and now both versions of PS on my machine can access all of the plug-ins, with none of the plug-ins residing in the local plug-ins folder inside of each separate application.

My photoshop still works, but for some reason changed photoshop CC 2015.5 to a trial subscription and is asking me to buy it, while LR, BR and Camera Raw are still show up as part of my subscription.
I'm working with Tech Support now.
So, my problem was caused by a bootleg version of Adobe Acrobat X that I purchased. The guy that installed it made some entries into my host file that caused the problem..I should know better than to buy 'used' software.

Thanx, Kirk. That saved me some work, I reckon.

Normally my CC lets me know when I open PS or LR there's an update but I haven't seen one yet. Where can I find it?

I can't find my CC. It shows it's loaded in my programs but I can't find anywhere to access it. When I click on it, it takes me to redownload.

How about if you navigate to C:/Program Files (x86)/Adobe/Adobe Creative Cloud/ACC and double-click on the .exe file (the one with the red icon)?

I ended up re-download CC as it said mine was missing some data. It's running it's course at the moment.

That seems to solve a lot of issues. I had to do that recently as well, uninstalling CC and re-downloading it fixed everything.

Memory Recommendations

Occasional Users

A minimum of 4 GB RAM is required. These are graphics or GIS users who use Geographic Imager with medium sized data sets including some low-resolution or small coverage raster images.

Power Users

The recommended memory for a power user is 8 GB RAM or more. These are professional cartographers and GIS users who use Geographic Imager daily and works with large image files.

Memory Usage

Why is so much RAM needed to operate Geographic Imager? Adobe Photoshop requires a significant amount of RAM itself in order to run smoothly. In addition, image data sets are often large which increases the need for RAM even further. Image data sets contain raster data which must be stored in memory. Since Geographic Imager is adding georeferencing properties to Adobe Photoshop, this increases the file size, which increases the RAM requirements. In addition, Adobe Photoshop loads the entire file into memory rather than just reading it from disk, thus more RAM memory is required.

When importing a large number of files into Adobe Photoshop using Geographic Imager, notice that the amount of available memory will decrease rapidly and the computer may lose performance. This is due to the memory management. Geographic Imager reserves a fairly large amount of memory for each action, which may not properly returned when the procedure is done. The solution is simple: save your file, close it and open it again. It’s not even necessary to close Adobe Photoshop itself. By closing the file, the reserved memory is properly returned.

Megastat mac. Memory Saving Tips

Many raster data files are large and when a series of such files is opened, you may find that the program starts to run more slowly. This is because scratch and memory allocations are being used up. The best solution is to periodically save your work, quit out of Adobe Photoshop and then restart. This will free up the available scratch memory.

The minimum number of undos can be reduced (since they all reside in memory).

You can set a primary and secondary scratch disk in Adobe Photoshop Preferences (menu Edit > Preferences > Performance) in order to draw additional storage from a partitioned or multi-drive environment.
