Tinyumbrella V7

Apple released iOS 7 and later iOS 7.0.2 to the public along with the release of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Developer NotCom has released an update for TinyUmbrella that supports saving the iOS 7.0.2 support SHSH blobs of A4 devices which includes iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4. Go through the guide to save SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella. As per official blog – I’ve updated TU for iOS.

Firmware Umbrella

  1. TinyUmbrella, the tool that allows users to save SHSH blobs to be used for potential downgrades, has received another update. As we reported a few weeks ago, TinyUmbrella has made a significant comeback, and its developer, semaphore, is hopeful that downgrades to iOS firmware will be a real thing in the not so distant future.
  2. TinyUmbrella Free & Safe Download! TinyUmbrella Latest Version! Works with All Windows versions; Users choice! TinyUmbrella is a product developed by Tinyumbrella. This site is not directly affiliated with Tinyumbrella. All trademarks, registered trademarks, product names and company names or logos mentioned herein are the property.

When you try to restore an older firmware on the devices listed below, Apple won’t let you do that. Once you ‘upgrade’ they don’t let you downgrade. The way they stop you is basically by a simple response that iTunes receives when you try to restore the firmware of your choosing. See, the firmware is now signed for the below devices. It is signed with a unique id (ECID) that only your device has. Apple takes the firmware version files and combines them with your ECID and generates a hash that ONLY APPLE can generate. iTunes packages up this valuable information and sends it to your device. Your device checks the information and verifies the signature (making sure it really came from Apple because it CANNOT be forged as the encryption is very high). If the signature matches then the restore process can continue. If the signature does not match, the device raises an error and the restore process stops. Apple stops signing older firmwares once a new one is out.

FirmwareUmbrella sends the same exact request that iTunes sends Apple when requesting the signatures for your device to be restored. It saves SHSH signatures for your device received from the Apple server and let to downgrade OS indefinitely.

TinyTSS

TinyTSS is a small java app that acts as your very own signature service. When iTunes verifies the firmware restore for the devices listed below, it checks if you are allowed to restore to the version you are requesting. With TinyTSS + the shsh blob file(s) you obtained with Umbrella, you will be able to restore to the version of those shsh files forever!

TinyUmbrella Supports

  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 3GS, 3G
  • iPod Touch 5G, 4G, 3G, 2G
  • iPad 4
  • iPad mini
  • iPad 3
  • iPad1, 2

NOTE

  • Apple stops signing firmware SHSH once a new firmware is out. Once Apple has stopped signing firmware SHSH requests for a firmware version there is no way to get your SHSH for that particular version.
  • TinyUmbrella can now save iOS SHSH regardless of whether your device is jailbroken.
  • You can save SHSH blobs for iOS even if you’re runnin an older fimrware.
  • It does not matter what firmware version is on the device TinyUmbrella will get the currently signed firmware by default.
  • TinyUmbrella saves the file locally AND sends the request to Cydia so Cydia will have the SHSH as well.
  • If Cydia’s TSS server is down, your only option will be to use TinyUmbrella for restoring through iTunes.
  • iPhone 3G and older devices including iPod Touch (Non-MC) users do not need to save SHSH blobs.

I used to actively save my SHSH blobs whenever Apple come out with a new firmware. This was back in the day, and now, it seems like no one cares about it anymore. Partly because there are a few tools that allow them to downgrade without the need for SHSH files.

People are also continuously moving forward with their iOS update. Jailbreak can be rare too. Some of the most recent jailbreak utility and apps only brings semi-untethered. That being said, having some spare SHSH blobs isn’t needed anymore. If you’re still in need for a tool to do that, TinyUmbrella is the way to go.

This is an updated article of what used to be a tutorial on how to save your blobs for iOS 7.1.2 on the iPhone 4. The first section may be a bit outdated for some users. You can check the second part if your device is newer.

TinyUmbrella for iOS 7.1.2

TinyUmbrella was updated on time for this event, which means it now has support for iPhone 4 running iOS 7.1.2. TinyUmbrella 7.12.00 will let iPhone users save their SHSH and use the blobs file to downgrade even if Apple decided to stop signing their firmware.

semaphore aka notcom wrote on his blog:

Finally 7.1.2 iPhone 4 support

Sorry for the delay. TU will now save your (hopefully final) iphone 4 shshs. Let’s hope apple does not ruin the party by releasing a maintenance version of iOS 7!

With 7.1.2 shshs you should be able to permanently jailbreak your device with signed custom 7.1.2 firmware.

Keep those 7.1.2 shshs safe for your iPhone 4!

How to save SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella

  1. You can download the latest update of TinyUmbrella for Windows and Mac from here
  2. Open TinyUmbrella and Connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer
  3. You will see that the tool is now recognizing your device, showing previous blobs as well as downloading all available SHSH blobs being signed by Apple, and Fetch OTA.

In addition to saving SHSH blobs, TinyUmbrella can also fix recovery mode as well. I thought it was a handy feature that not a lot of people know of. To learn how it can get your iPhone out of recovery mode, read this.

Unable to open TinyUmbrella in Mac OS X

I couldn’t open TinyUmbrella after it finished downloading on my macOS Sierra. There was an immediate popup that says:

“TinyUmbrella” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the App Store and identified developer.

If you see this error, the easiest way to get through it is to open the app directly on your desktop. Locate TinyUmbrella and drag & drop it to your home screen. Use two fingers and tap on icon at the same time. Now, click Open. The same popup will be displayed. But this time, it comes with another button called “Open.” Select that, and you will be able to launch TinyUmbrella on your Mac computer.
